We are posting this for the amusement factor.
Apparently we have been blogging enough to attract the attention of some very targeted spam. This person would have had to go to our “About this blog” page and manually type in our email address.
As far as spam goes, it’s actually kind of cool.
This is what was in our email inbox yesterday:
Dear Salmon Farm Science,
I am contacting you because you have conducted research regarding fish disease.
We have recently added some new fish pathogen antigens to our catalog.
Please find attached a list of our antigens. We encourage you to test our Fish Pathogens Antibodies products by offering you a one time 50% discount on our new line. You can find detailed information on each product on our website at XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.
If you require additional information please feel free to contact me anytime via e-mail at XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX or via phone at 1-800-XXX-XXXX.
Thank you for your business, and I look forward to serving you better on your research projects.
The catalog sheet actually looks pretty interesting. There are experimental vaccines for all sorts of common fish diseases, from IHN to vibrio to VHS.
And there are even some for ISA:
And we’re getting offered a 50 per cent discount on these. Not bad!
Maybe we could buy some, inject them into wild fish samples, send them in for testing and see what results the labs get.
We’re kidding, of course.
